Sesame Street Birthday Party Theme

Ages: 4 to 5

What kid hasn’t liked Sesame Street at some point? So throw a bash with the whole Sesame Street gang, Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, Snuffy, Bert, Ernie and the Count. This party is perfect for the 4-5 year old age group.

Invitation Ideas:

Create an invitation that says (child’s name) birthday was brought to you by the letter ___ (enter the letter of your child’s first name) and the number (enter the number for the age your child is turning). Use bold primary colors. You can also find stickers of sesame street characters and say something like, “Big Bird would like to invite you to a party!”

Decoration Ideas:

Decorate with letters and numbers and place Sesame Street character stuffed animals around the party area. If you are feeling ambitious you could put butchers paper on the wall and draw on a Sesame Street sign.

Games and Activities:

Take your inspiration right from Sesame Street. Play one of these things is not like the other. You can even find the song online to download. For older kids make it a bit harder by picking things that are not obviously different.

Get a large silver trash can like Oscar the Grouch’s can and let the kids do a bean bag toss.

Play pin the cookie on Cookie Monster.

Get a Sesame Street movie and let the kids watch it while eating their refreshments.

Put up some blank butchers paper and give the kids crayons so that they can draw a world (just like Elmo does in Elmo’s World).

Play where’s Elmo (or your child’s favorite Sesame Street character). Hide an Elmo doll and yell out hot when the children get close and cold when they are far away from the hiding spot.

Craft Idea

Before the party make sugar cookies and use letter and number cookie cutters to cut out shapes. At the party provide the kids with primary colored frosting and sprinkles and let them decorate their own letter and number of the day cookies.
