Farm Birthday Party Theme
Ages: 1 to 3
Invitation and Decoration Ideas:
For the invitations make a barn out of red cardstock. Make it so
that the barn doors open up. Put the information for the party
inside the barn doors. Another idea is to make invitations into
animal shapes.
Put red and white checkered table cloths on all the tables. If you
are having the party in a place that does not look much like a
farm put out hay bales, and place stuffed farm animals around.
Turn a large box into a barn with some red and white paint. A
scarecrow stuck into one of the hay bales would also make a great
decoration. Get plain white helium balloons and use a black
permanent marker to draw cow spots onto them. Bushel basket,
buckets and milk crates are also great for setting out around the
party area.
Games and Activities:
Have a hay hunt. Spread hay on a tarp on the ground and hide small
items (Easter eggs filled with little goodies would be fun). Let
the kids roll around in the hay to try and find them.
Try and have the party at a place where you can offer hayrides.
Have this be the final activity at the party. Before the hayride
let the kids pick up their goody bags so they can look through
them while on the ride.
Play a game of bobbing for apples. If the kids are a little too
young for this game try this variation: tie doughnuts to one end
of a string. Tie the other end of the string on a stick. Put many
doughnuts on the stick then tell the kids they have to eat like an
animal (without their hands). Whoever eats their entire doughnut
first wins a small prize.
Food Ideas:
Pigs in a Blanket (hot dogs wrapped in a biscuit and baked) are a
fun option. You could also serve "chicken feed". Get small buckets
and fill them with popcorn, candy corn and sunflower seeds. Cow
Tail candies, animal crackers, and sandwiches cut into animal
shapes are also fun. Another fun treat is "straw" potato sticks
served in little baskets.
