Cinderella Themed Party
Ages: 4 to 9
Invitations:
Make an invite that looks like a royal invitation to a ball by
using nice parchment paper and a flourishing font. Put it in an
envelope and close it with a monogram sticker or even a wax seal.
Tie a ribbon around the envelope for an added touch.
Decoration Ideas
Decorate with streamers and balloons in light blue, pink, and
white. Put blue and pink confetti on the snack table. Make a
castle out of a box or create castle scenes on butcher paper and
mount them on the wall.
Craft Ideas
Provide string and beads and let the kids make their own jewelry
to wear to the “ball”.
You can also have blank paper crowns for the guests to decorate.
While the kids are working on their crafts they might enjoy having
someone read them the Cinderella story.
If you are doing the party in the fall when pumpkins are
available, buy 4-5 small round pumpkins. Divide the kids into
groups and let them decorate the pumpkins to look like royal
coaches.
Game Ideas
Pass the Glass Slipper Game
Add glitter to a white high heel shoe to make a glass slipper.
Have the kids sit in a circle and pass around the glass slipper
while you play waltzes or other Cinderella ball music. When the
music stops the girl holding the glass slipper gets a little
prize.
Before Midnight Game
In Cinderella, the step-mother gives a list of things that
Cinderella must do before she can go to the ball. Set up a relay
game that imitates this. Divide the kids into groups and put out a
bunch of items that need to be “cleaned up”. You might want to
divide the party area with a line so that the groups know which
items are for them to pick up. Give each team a basket and each
person goes picks up one item ant then runs the basket to the next
person in line. When all the items have been picked up, the team
members must run to the other side of the room where crowns and
jewelry will be waiting for them. They need to put it on as
quickly as possible and all sit down (pretending to get into the
carriage).
Food
Ideas
Make a cake in the shape of a glass slipper or you can make a
simple sheet cake, decorate it with flowers and add a tiara in the
middle. Doll cakes with the doll dressed as Cinderella are also
loved by all girls.
Offer appetizer items that the kids will like such as mini pizza
slices and fruit kabobs. Make cookies shaped like glass slipper or
tiaras.
